Hi! My name is Karen and I am a stay-at-home mom and run 2 online stores selling hand crocheted hats for infants to adults. I have 3 girls ages 13, 10 and 6 and a wonderful husband who owns a flooring business. I started selling hats on Ebay just over a year ago with my sister. We started sewing fleece hats and I later on added crocheted hats. The economy was hitting hard, and we figured we'd like to make some extra money for Christmas gifts. Little did we know it would take off like it did!! My sister got promoted at her job and no longer had the time to continue with me, so I concentrated on just crocheting hats and joined Etsy in January 2009. Etsy has been wonderful for me and my business, so much so that I will soon be closing my store on Ebay to concentrate on the wonderful customers at Etsy. Crocheting hats has become my full time job and I feel very blessed to be able to stay at home and be just a phone call away from my kids while they are at school. My oldest daughter has Type 1 diabetes and it is ideal to be close to her while she is at school. All my items are made with love and care and with only the softest yarn. I take custom requests as well. Please take a look at my store, I try and add new items weekly.

NEW Long Sleeve Necktie Onesies

Argyle Shirt Tutorial

Plain shirts are

so boring.

Argyle shirts are

so cool.

Add a little funk to your kiddos wardrobe

with a little argyle action.

Instant cuteness.

Supplies:
-A plain t shirt or onesie
-scrap fabric (I used a piece of an old t shirt)
-Embroidery floss
-Sewing needle and sewing machine

Step 1:
Cut a diamond shape out of a piece of scrap card stock to use as your pattern.
Mine was around 3 inches long and 1 3/4 inches wide.

Step 2:
Trace 4 diamonds onto your piece of scrap fabric

and cut out.

*I used an old t shirt scrap to make my diamonds so they wouldn't fray when washed.

Step 3:
Pin the diamonds, side by side, along the front of your shirt.

Step 4:
Sew in place.

*If I did this over again I would use Steam a Seam to attach the diamonds to the shirt first and then sew over them to secure. The extra step would prevent them from curling and moving and make them much easier to sew.

Step 5:
Using your diamond pattern, trace 3 diamonds (in between the fabric diamonds) side by side with a water soluble pen.

Step 6:
Pick out a fun color embroidery floss
spend 20 minutes trying to thread it through your sewing needle
(or is that just me?)

and stitch over the pattern you just drew.

Remove the pen pattern with some water and

Tada!

Your finished!

Try it on your little boy (or girl) and
"Oooo" and "Ahhh" about how cute they are!

Then pat yourself on the back
because you just made a super cool shirt all by yourself!

Fabric Pumpkin Tutorial

Add a touch of fall spice
to your home with these
fabric pumpkins.

Supplies:
-Fabric
-Fishing line or other strong thread and needle
-Stick or piece of wood
-Plastic grocery bags

Step 1:
Find something round in your house to use as a template for your pumpkin. I used one of our large dinner plates (a large serving platter would also work great).

Trace around your template.

Step 2:
Cut slightly outside the circle you just drew.

Step 3:
Sew a running stitch (along the line) around the entire circumference of the circle.

Slightly pull each end of string until the fabric begins to bunch together and form a pouch.

Step 4:
Grab a few grocery bags
(I used 3)

and stuff into the pouch you just created.

Step 5:
Send your kids on a scavenger hunt to find a small stick or piece of wood

Apply some hot glue to the end of your stick and place on top of the bags in the middle of your pumpkin.

Step 6:
Pull the two ends of your string really tight and tie into a double knot to secure.
The ends of the fabric should come right around your stick so that the grocery bags don't show.

*This is where it is important to use strong thread. I used regular cotton thread at first but it broke when I was pulling it tightly and trying to tie the knot. I went back and did it with fishing line and it worked great!

Pumpkin Patch '09

I heart fall.

This past weekend we went to the pumpkin patch as a family.

The same one we went to last year.
It was so crazy to me how much Mackenzie has grown since then.
Last time she was just a baby and now
well...

she's a big girl.

In the midst of the craziness

I'm really trying to enjoy my kids as they are
because it goes by so fast.
