pillow talk

I'm not sure how long pillows are supposed to last
but I'm pretty sure we are way way over due for some replacements.

As soon as I started pillow hunting I realized why we have had our pillows for so long.
Pillows are probably the hardest thing to shop for.
I mean you can feel them and squish them all you want but you really don't know if it's a good fit until you actually sleep on it.
And after a month of trying pillow after pillow after pillow we are back to using our old, worn out but perfectly worn in pillows once again.
And I would kind of be ok with keeping them forever until I starting googling when to replace your pillow and read about all the gross things that most certainly live in my pillow.
Now we need some new ones ASAP.

So what's your favorite kind of pillow?
Down? Foam?
I need your help before I get eaten to death by dust mites or something.

A peek at our week

Sorry for the overload of pictures this week.
Apparently we were busy
and the kids were busy being extra cute.

I made lots of cake pops for little Missy's party.

She had a blast celebrating (i.e. eating lots of cake).

She was so wiped out after church on Sunday she fell asleep like this.

Wesley's spaceship

Me and my girl

She likes Popsicles.
a lot.

My Mother's Day card form Kenzie.
melt. my. heart.

Playing at Downtown Disney

I finally got a picture of all of us together for Mother's Day!

Look at these pretty flowers in Aaron's grandparents backyard!
Aren't they lovely?!

Nothing says summer to me like watermelon.
Yum!

I peeked into Mackenzie room during "nap time" (which she usually spends just playing) and found her like this.

I made some yummy copy cat Chipotle at home
and Mackenzie told me my quesadillas are better than Chipotle's.
Thanks sweetie.

My little "helper"

We went to the park with some friends

who brought the coolest bubble machine.

We also celebrated with some other friends.

Mackenzie has become an expert whistler.

Maddie got her first pedi.
I love having girls! (and boys too!)

The kids had their end of the year performance at Bible Study.
Mackenzie was set on doing all the motions perfectly and Wesley was SO happy to be on stage.
It was adorable!

Mackenzie found a toy she reeaalllly wants from Target so I told her she has to do chores to earn some money and save it to buy it herself.
It's never too early to learn responsibility right?

We had our first biting incident.
Maddie was bitten by a sibling (who will remain nameless).
The end.

We went in the hot tub.

Well the big kids and Daddy did.
Maddie and I just put our feet in.

i heart her.

We have baby cucumber growing!

Good morning sunshine!

Mmmmm....my newest addiction.

elder

A couple weeks ago Aaron became an elder (pastor) at our church.
I am so proud of the godly man that he is and the way he leads our family and now our church.
I'm so blessed to be his wife and to walk through life with him by my side.

He's definitely a keeper.

We are laughing because they put me on the spot and made me talk in front of the entire church
which is pretty much my favorite thing in the whole world to do (public speaking that is) :)

I'm so proud of you babe!

No cancer!

I have good news
no great news
my gastroenterologist called me last night
and told me that my Octreotide scan came back negative.
That means there were no tumors and no cancer!
thank you Jesus. thank you Jesus. thank you Jesus!

But there's also a tinge of bad news.
Now that they have pretty much ruled out Carcinoid Syndrome
no one has any clue what is wrong with me!
I definitely need a real life Dr. House to figure things out.

Thankfully I know the ultimate Physician.
He knows what's going on inside of me and His is totally able to heal me if it is His will.
And maybe He already has (or maybe He hasn't)
but either way He is good and sovereign and perfect.
His hands are a good place to be!

Thanks for all of the prayers and love and support!

mini Daddy

Wesley is super into 2 things lately.
His monkey

and pretending to be Daddy.

I think 50 times a day he asks me if I want to play "Mommy Daddy" with him.
Every time I am the son and he is the Daddy (even though I try to tell him that I would be a daughter since I am a girl. He doesn't care.).
I'm pretty sure he only likes to play this game so he can boss me around without getting in trouble.
Our conversations usually go something like this.

Wes: "Son, Daddy needs to get his coffee. (gets a sippy cup) Son, Daddy's coffee is really hot. You cannot have it."
Me: Ok Daddy.
Wes: "Son, Daddy needs to go to work soon. I need to get my shoes (gets Aaron's flip flops).
Son, Daddy needs some water (gets my water bottle and tries to drink from it).
Me: "Daddy, Mommy said that you can't drink from her water bottle remember."
Wes: "No, Son. This is for adults and Daddy is an adult. (goes on and on until I let him drink from it).
Son, Daddy needs some chips (goes and gets bag of chips)....etc. etc.

One day while playing "Mommy Daddy" with Wesley, I asked him what he thinks Daddy's do.
He told me that Daddy's go to work, drink coffee, eat chips, wrestle with their kids, go to baseball games and go to adult only meetings (usually a church meeting).

Pretty well summed up little man.
You are going to make a good Daddy some day.

A garden on our gate

I think I mentioned before that my dream house would have a giant garden.
There's just something so cool about grocery shopping in your own yard. for free.
Well since we don't quite have our dream house we have to improvise with what we've got.
And in our new house what we've got is z.e.r.o. usable garden space.
But that wasn't going to stop us.
So we went to Home Depot and bought some planter things that hang from the gate in our backyard and a bunch of vegetables to go in them.

It's like our mile high garden.
I'm not sure how it's going to work out since they don't have a lot of room in those little planters but we figured we would give it a try.

We planted strawberries

cucumbers,

pole beans, tomatoes,

cilantro and peppers.

Mmmmm...homegrown food always tastes better than the stuff from the store.

Friday Randoms

Happy Friday!

Here's a peek inside our week through the lens of my camera phone.
Enjoy!

Wesley didn't want to nap in his bed this day but gladly slept in Madelyn's crib.
Doesn't he look like a little mummy?

Little cutie turned ONE!

She's my cuddle bug.

And Wesley's cuddle bug.

We went to the Great Park again.

I love it there.

She's starting to take her first steps.
I'm so not ready for her to be walking!

We hit up Hagaan Haz for some free ice cream.

I couldn't touch Madelyn the day I was injected so Mackenzie offered to carry Madelyn everywhere.
She's a little mini Mama.

Wes has been obsessed with his monkey lately.
He wants to take him everywhere.

I think he's going to be a chef someday.
He loves to "help" me cook and is always next to me with a chair whenever I am in the kitchen.

:)

Yesterday I had my first non vegan meal in 2 weeks.
It tasted sooooo good!
