Yesterday we got to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time! Even though I already knew what it would sound like it was still so magical. And I still can't believe a little life is really inside of me...so crazy! I don't think it will completely hit me until I start looking pregnant and feeling the baby.
Mackenzie went with us to the appointment and was so excited to hear the heartbeat. She was laughing and smiling and kept saying "Ooohhh." It was so cute!
And speaking of our first born...Mackenzie's surgery is going to be this Monday, Feb. 2nd at 7:30 a.m.. Hopefully we can keep her well until then because this is the third time we have been rescheduled for her surgery because she was kept getting sick!

Mackenzie's Quilt
After lots of sewing, the first phase of Mackenzie's quilt is finally done! I wanted it to be really bright and fun with different textures and I think I accomplished that but don't look too closely or you will see some of the imperfections that are definitely there! Now I need to get some batting, do the actual quilting and then put the backing on. Sounds easy enough....right?
Any quilters out there have suggestions for quilting the middle of the quilt? I have found that because it is so large there is a lot of fabric that gets bunched up in the arm of the sewing machine making it really hard to sew it properly without bunching or pulling. Does that make sense?
Beach Day!
Since last weekend was so sunny and beautiful we decided to get out of the house and go to Laguna beach with my parents. We spent the day walking around, playing by the water, going on slides and of course eating yummy saltwater taffies and BJ's pizza!

The dreaded word...
Just the other day my precious baby girl learned the word "No." I think it is way too early for this word to have entered her vocabulary.

My spare time sucker...
Since business has been slow with Lu Bird Baby I decided to make Mackenzie a twin size quilt/comforter to go on her big girl bed after the baby comes. I'll keep you updated on its progress...

Mei Tai Baby Carrier
I have been meaning to post this for a while so here it finally is. At one of the boutiques I was doing I saw a lady who was selling these for $90 each and thought to myself, "I can make that!" So I went to Joanns, got some fabric on sale, sat down at my sewing machine and got busy. It ended up being a little time consuming but easy to sew (just straight lines) and Mackenzie loves it! And I love how I can wear her on my front or my back and I love how comfortable it is (way better than the Baby Bjorn we have). Anyways, I am a big fan of them! Let me know if you want to make one yourself and I'll give you some of the websites I found with instructions.

Holiday Fun!
We had a very fun (and busy!) Christmas season this year. Christmas Eve we had our traditional big party at my parents house with all my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Then on Christmas day the craziness began. We started off the day by opening presents with my brother and parents and eating our traditional yummy egg souffle breakfast. Then we headed to San Clemente to open presents with Aaron's mom, stepdad, stepsister, sister and her boyfriend. Then we went back home so Mackenzie could squeeze in a nap before we went to my aunt and uncle's house for the rest of the day/night. On top of it being a great Christmas because we got to spend it with so many people we love it was also extra special because we got to tell everyone that we are pregnant! All of our family is very excited to have a new little one to love!
