Christmas music....
I could listen to it
every. single. day.
For real.
I have even been known to sneak in a song or two in July.
Just because.
And you know those radio stations that play only Christmas music during the holidays?
They are permanently set and allowed to be changed for no reason.
What so ever.
And did you know Cox cable has an entire radio station on TV devoted to Holiday music?
Yes, it's true.
We have been listening to it for the past month.
Yup, I'm Christmas music crazy.
What are some of the things you love about the holidays?

Good things ahead
+
2 sick kids
=
one tired mommy and neglected blog
I promise I have lots of fun ideas in my head that are just waiting to come to life (maybe... hopefully this week) plus a super cute Thanksgiving dress that I made (yes, made! well with my friends help, but still) for Mackenzie.
On a side note the boutique was a total success! And I met a lady who gave me lots of good info about taking Lu Bird Baby to the next level. A totally scary but exciting thought!
And lastly we had a death in the family. Well kind of. Our beloved baby swing (AKA life saver/sanity keeper) broke. BOO! It had been acting funny lately but this past week it finally bit the dust. So I have been pushing it by hand (in desperate times) to get Wesley to fall asleep. Pathetic I know. Oh well. Just part of the craziness that is life right now.

I'm convinced...
I saw it at Costco
laying on the shelf
just waiting to be tried.
I did what any girl who hates her current camera would do
pick it up and try it of course.
Big mistake.
Now no other camera will do.
If only I had a secret money stash
or a tree that grew large bills in my back yard.
Maybe Santa will be really, really nice to me this year.
A girl can dream right?
but it broke at the hospital when I had Wesley
(someone accidentally kicked it off the bed...oops)
so we bought the worst point and shoot camera ever
that makes me want to say bad words
as a replacement.
In case you were wondering.

Owl Ribbon Tag Baby Toy Tutorial
Perfect for my baby boy.
You can make one for your little boy or girl too.
All you need is:
some fabric, felt and ribbon
You will need:
Flip your owl right side out and add another ribbon tag inside the small opening. Pin the ribbon tag in place and top stitch around your owl, being sure to catch the ribbon tag as you go.
*FYI Don't iron your owl before you top stitch! Felt and a hot iron do not get along! Trust me :)
Slip your new cutie pie onto some plastic links attach to your baby's car seat or stroller and let the fun begin (for your little one)! Lots of fun colors and textures for them to look at and explore and lots of fun ribbon tags for them to play with or chew on. And a super soft back perfect for cuddling :)Friday, November 13, 2009

Stay in Bed Bag Tutorial
or from a nap
she has to stay in her bed until Aaron and I come and get her out.
To occupy my little angel
and to prevent this or this from happening again
I came up with the magical
Stay in Bed Bag
A bag that hangs from her bed
and is filled with her favorite
non breakable and mess free
toys.
we will have no more
Little Miss Trouble
incidents to report.
Fingers Crossed.
*Warning*
Sorry if this tutorial doesn't make sense. My baby still doesn't sleep through the night. And I require at least 10 hours of sleep to think clearly. Just email me if you have any questions :)
Step 1:
Draw your pattern
and cut it out.
I like to fold my piece of paper (or whatever scrap material you have on hand. I used the inside of an old gift bag) in half,
draw half of my pattern and then cut it out
to make sure both sides are symmetrical.
My pattern was approximately 28'' x 18'' Step 2:
Trace your pattern onto your fabric.
You will need two front pieces and two inside pieces.
Pin one front piece and one inside piece (right sides together).
Sew along the pattern line you just drew.
Make sure to leave an opening to turn it right side out with.
Trim around the line you just sewed
and turn right side out.
Repeat with the other front and inside piece. Iron so they look nice and pretty.
Step 3:
If you would like to add any embellishment to the front of your bag
now is the time to do it.
I cut off the ruffle from an old sheet I had
and added it to the top of one of my pieces.
It would also be cute to add your child's initials
or the word "toys".
Step 4:
Pin your two pieces right side together
and sew around the perimeter
(leaving the top open)
and your done with your bag! Step 5:
Now for the ties...
Using a yard stick trace two front pieces
that are approximately 25" x 2"
(If I did it again I think I would make my ties a couple inches longer).
Pin your front pieces to your inside pieces (right sides together)
and sew (leaving a small opening for you to turn it right side out). Turn right side out, iron and then top stitch. Step 6:
Pin your ties to the top corners of the bag
(where the seam meets)
and sew to secure. Tada! Your very own
Stay in Bed Bag!
Tie to the side of your kiddos bed or crib Fill with kid proof toys
(I put chipboard books, dolls, stuffed animals, etc.)
and enjoy some peace of mind
knowing your little one will be entertained for a bit
when they wake up in the morning or from a nap.
