We are on our way...

to meet our baby boy!
so.so. excited!!

Initials take 2...

I'm so glad I didn't just settle with the fabric initials I made for Mackenzie and Wesley's room because I am love.love.loving. how these turned out.

I had two of these matching matted frames laying around the house.

Using some of the left over Amy Butler scrapbook paper I used for the Mermaid and Surfer wall hangings, I cut out strips of coordinating paper and taped them together.

Then, I printed a "M" and a "W" in the size and font I wanted, cut them out and retraced them onto some cute scrapbook paper and then taped them on top of the paper strips.

A fun way to personalize your kid's room!

I hung the "M" over Mackenzie's bed and the "W" over Wesley's crib (just in case they...or Mackenzie...forgets who's is who's).

Fabric Letters

Some projects never turn out as I intended.
This was one of those projects.

I wanted to make some initials to hang in Mackenzie and Wesley's room so I came up with these little fabric letters.

They turned out cute...just not exactly what I had in mind.

I think I will hang them over the end post of Mackenzie's bed or on the door knob to their room because I made some WAY better initials.
BUT you will have to wait until tomorrow to see them :)

Stain Cover Up

Some moms can get stains out of anything.
I am not that mom.
So what do I do to hide stubborn stains on a perfectly good shirt?

Cover it with cute fabric flowers of course.

All you need to do is find a shirt with some stains on it.

Dig through your fabric stash and find a fabric with a cute pattern on it. Cut the pattern out of the fabric, iron it on to your shirt with my favorite "Steam a Seam" and then top stitch to secure.

Bye bye stain! Hello brand new shirt!

Love her...

so.so. much!

Just trying to soak up every second of our life as a family of 3 before Wesley comes. Only 9 more days (or less!)!

Summer Swaddling Blanket

Since Wesley will be a summer baby I wanted to make a lightweight swaddling blanket.

Something to keep him cozy but cool.

I have heard great things about these blankets so when I was at Joann's the other day and spotted some fabric (on sale of course) that looked similar I thought I would try it out.

I bought a little over a yard of the fabric,

washed and dried it,

hemmed the edges and appliqued a "W" on it.

Super simple and less than $7.

Under the influence...of fabric

A local fabric store was having a sale this weekend.
I went a little crazy.
24 yards crazy.

But now I have all this beautiful, new fabric goodness just waiting to be sewn into cute and functional car seat covers.

Wesley's Quilt

I love making quilts for my kids.
They are a blanket of love from their Mommy.
This weekend I finally finished Wesley's quilt.
I think it is my favorite one yet.

Almost all of it was made from fabric I already had. I love the combination of blues, greens and brown with different patterns.

Perfectly imperfect.

Simple, but not boring.
All boy!

This is the back...brown with white dots.

All ready for Wesley to come.
*Minus the fact that his sister is still sleeping in his crib...hopefully she will be in the big girl bed soon. I think she's ready but I don't know if I am.

OC Fair

Every summer I wait for the fair to come.

Yummy food.

Lots of animals and Mackenzie's favorite...the petting zoo!

This year they had a cool "Fun Zone" for kids. Kenzie loved going shopping at this pretend grocery store.

Giant slides

and carnival rides.

What's not to love?

"Bored No More" Box

For all the moms that are sick of hearing their kids say, "I'm bored!"...
May I introduce you to the "Bored No More" Box.
A box full of art supplies and crafty things to get your little one's imaginations going.
Happy creating!

To make your own "Bored No More" Box...

You will need:
-A box (I used a clear plastic shoe box from Walmart)
-Art supplies of your choice
(I included glue, crayons, markers, water colors, and colored pencils)
-Crafty accessories of your choice
(I included pipe cleaners, feathers, googly eyes, pom poms, popsicle sticks and clothes pins)
-You could also include items from around the house that are commonly used in crafting
(for example cotton balls, Q tips, empty toilet paper rolls, etc.)

If giving as a gift, I would recommend taking some of the items that came in bulk and putting them into smaller bags so they fit better into the box and so you can make a few "Bored No More" boxes with your supplies.

I found small zip lock bags at Walmart in the craft section and I just tied the items that were too big to fit into a bag with some ribbon.

Then put all your crafty items into your box...

and decorate the lid however you would like!

I made this one for our friend's son who is turning 4. Hopefully he will like it!

Taco Night!

Our family loves Mexican food.
We eat tacos at least once a week.
So when I was pondering what my next attempt at felt food would be, I knew it had to be Mexican.

So I came up with this little taco/burrito set.

Now Mackenzie can make her very own tacos...just the way she likes it! All she has to do is put the fixings in the shell and fold closed. It even has a piece of velcro at the top of the shell to keep everything together.

The fixings:
-1 taco shell (with velcro closure)
-1 piece of meat with beans
-2 tomatoes
-1 piece of lettuce
-3 pieces of shredded cheese

Yummy!

*I added a set here to my shop if anyone is interested :)
