You Choose

Setting:
Sitting at the table getting ready to eat dinner.
Mackenzie just picked a stick from the prayer pail.

Mackenzie: "Mommy, what does it say?"
Me: "You choose! That means you can pray for whoever you'd like. Do you know who you want to pray for?"
Mackenzie: "Yeeaaah. Dear Jesus, I pray for you choose..."

Scrabble letters

Maybe because I just discovered
this app on my Iphone,
or because I heart mosaics,
when I saw Craftykin's bathroom
with Scrabble letters over the sink
I fell in love.

If I was redoing our bathroom with a handmade mosaic
I'd totally do this too :)

Simple Felt Flower Tutorial

I'm a sucker for flowers.
real ones,
fabric ones
and of course felt ones.

After seeing this fabric flower on V and Co's blog
I knew I had to come up with a felt version of my own.

These felt flowers are super simple
and versatile.

Attach them to a pin back for an adorable brooch

or to a pinch or snap clip for a cute hair accessory.

Convinced you need to make one in every color by their cuteness factor alone?
Just wait until you see how easy they are.
Ok let's get started.

You will need:
-One sheet of felt
-needle and thread
-button
-pin back or hair clip of your choice

Warning/FYI:
This tutorial was made and shot by me
in my crippled, can't walk at all, feet need to be elevated at all times
post surgery condition.
See what I do for you guys?

Step 1:
Cut a strip down the entire length of your felt (on the longest end).

The wider you cut your strip the bigger the flower will be.

Step 2:
With a threaded needle, sew a running stitch down the entire length of the felt strip.

Making sure to leave a tail of thread on each end.

Step 3:
Gently pull the tails of thread so your felt begins to ruffle and form a tight circle.

Step 4:
Tie your two pieces of thread (the tail from the front and the back) into a knot to hold the flower shape in place.

Step 5:
Sew (or if your lazy glue) a button on for the center and
Tada!

A cute flower accessory!

Hot glue your flower onto a single prong clip or a snap clip

for a some girly hair candy.

Or hot glue your flower to a pin back for a chic and stylish brooch.

I pinned the brooch to a sweater wrap
but I think they would be super cute pinned to a purse, scarf, hat, or just about anything else.
The possibilities are endless!

My little man

New camera +
realization that my little man has WAY less pictures than his big sis did as a baby=
Impromptu photo session

Isn't he a cutie?
I can't believe he is almost 10 months old.
His little life is going by way. too. fast.
it's crazy.
And what's even crazier
is that I was pregnant with Wesley when Mackenzie was this age.

P.S. Come back tomorrow for a new tutorial!

Purple tattoos

Mackenzie: "Mommy! I have a purple tatttoo!!!"
Me: "Let me see!" (Thinking...sweet Jesus please say she did not get into any pens, markers, etc... AGAIN)

Mackenzie whips out her arm, pushes up her sleeve and shows me her wrist.
Me: (laughing) "Oh. Yeah. That does look kind of like a tattoo but it's a vein. It's part of your body."

Mackenzie: (clearly uninterested in my boring answer) "Mommy let me see your arm."
I show her my arm.
Mackenzie: "Mommy YOU have a purple tattoo too!!!"

Chew toy

Wesley's favorite toy

is a chew toy
for dogs.

No matter where it is hidden in the house
he will find it.
Actually I'm pretty sure he and our dog Cali speak their own special language
because our dog will go in another room just to get the toy
and bring it to Wesley.

Wesley and Cali both prefer to chew on the chicken's "hair".
Clearly it's the best part.

It's kind of funny
and kind of gross.
But whatever.
I figure there are worse things he's probably put into his mouth
(did I mention Wesley also loves to chew on shoes? hmmm...maybe he's part dog.)

His sister also had a fondness for doggie chew toys.

It must run in the family.

At least dog's mouth's are supposedly cleaner than humans right?

Funny Girl

This little girl

has been cracking us up lately.
I'm not sure if it's just the age she's at right now (almost 2 1/2) or what
but she is hilarious.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be sharing some of her funny moments
for your viewing pleasure.

Don't worry, I asked Mackenzie for her permission first
and she gave me a thumbs up.
She even told me to start you off with a couple teasers.
Enjoy!

While driving in the car:
Me: "Mackenzie, you are so special."
Mackenzie: "No mommy. I'm not special. I'm a little girl."

Mackenzie with sunglasses on and purse in hand,
"Mommy I want to go to summer."

Kids sure do say the Darndest things!
(By the way what ever happened to that TV show? It was one of my favorites!)

Hello Mr. Canon Rebel

My late
but totally worth the wait
Mother's Day present.
I'm in love!

Friday, May 14, 2010

The wait is over

It was so fun to see all of your guesses as to where we will be going.
And a few of you guessed correctly!

We are praying, planning and preparing to go to
Tauranga, New Zealand
in early 2012.

The plan is to spend the next year and a half
seeking the Lord,
paying off debt,
raising support,
praying, praying, praying,
growing in the Lord and His Word (the Bible),
learning,
being pruned and taught,
etc., etc., etc.

I am excited
and scared
and everything else in between.

I can't wait to see what God is going to use us to do for His Kingdom.
And I'm so humbled by the fact that He chooses to use sinful, broken nobody's like us to carry out His will.

More details on our journey as they come :)

Some interesting facts about New Zealand:
-New Zealand means, "Land of the long white cloud"
-They have more sheep than people.
There are 9 sheep to every human in NZ.
-A "kiwi" is New Zealand’s native flightless bird as well as the slang term for a New Zealander. Kiwis call the fruit “kiwifruit” or Chinese Gooseberries.
-NZ is the first country to see the sunrise.
-The awesome movie series "Lord of the Rings" was filmed entirely in NZ.
-Bungee jumping originated in NZ.

Can you guess where we are going?

Here are some pictures of the country
(yes country)
we are preparing to go to.
Can you guess which country it is?

Come back tomorrow for the answer :)
Can't wait to hear your guesses.
