Boys are gross :)

A recent conversation with the boy went something like this...

Wes burps really loud (on purpose).
Me- "Wes, that's gross. Say excuse me."
Wes- "Excuse me."
Me- (thinking more about how much I don't like when he does that...which has been a frequent occurrence lately) "Please don't do that anymore."
Wes- "But Mom. I haaave to. It makes my tummy feel better when I do that."
Me- (laughing) "Who told you to say that" (because it sounds exactly like something another man in our house would say)
Wes- "Jesus."

How can you argue with that? :)

Life sure wouldn't be as exciting as it is without this little man in our life.

My name is Kristin and I'm a teeth grinder

Apparently I am stressed
or my body is failing me yet again
because the dentist told me that I grind my teeth.
And not just grind my teeth every now and then
I'm talking grind my teeth like a crazy person.
I was totally in denial when they told me.
I tried the tell the nice lady that I didn't grind my teeth (at least I didn't think I did)
and then she kindly showed me my bazillion teeth that are fractured
and dull when they should be pointy
and told me again that I did.
I still didn't believe her until I looked at them for myself.
And then I got all freaked out and had visions of me with dentures.
Actually I still am a little a lot freaked out about my newest health problem which I'm pretty sure is making my teeth grinding even worse!

So in order to save my pretty teeth I need a mouth guard pronto.
The thing is my insurance doesn't cover it (of course)
and they cost an arm and a leg.
And then I stumbled across this place on the internet.
Has anyone used them or have a teeth grinding remedy they wish to share?
My teeth would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. Other than my poor teeth, I'm doing great! I haven't had an episod in 13 weeks (thank you Jesus!!)!

Hello Summer

I love summer!
It's busy and crazy and most of all fun!
This week was the perfect summer kick off.
Lots of time was spent with friends, at the park and in the water.
Hope you guys are enjoying summer too!

Here's a peek into our week through the camera lens of my phone.
Enjoy!

Aaron played bubbles with the kids.
He's a nice dad.
Mommy does not do bubbles.

We went swimming with some friends.

And we had dinner with some other friends.

Our secret tomato plant is getting hard to hide.
This picture does not do it justice...the thing is huge!

We heart the park.

Madelyn loves kisses.
Especially from her brother.

Mackenzie decided to feed Madelyn her yogurt one morning.
I think half of it made it into her mouth.

I love having girls and I love when they actually let me do their hair.

Mackenzie put on a ballet show for us.
She was practicing all day in her room and then made us wait until Aaron was home to show us.

We went to the park again.

Mackenzie was so proud that she can now do the swings all by herself.

I made the best lemon cookies ever.
Seriously people.
Go try them now.

Summer = lots of time in the pool with friends

We also got to go fruit picking with some friends.

Mmmmm...apricots.

Kenzie fell and scrapped up her knees for the 3rd time this week.
My poor clumsy little girl.

SALE headbands!

Looking for a cute, new hair accessory at a super sale price?
Look no further!
I'm cleaning out my stash of products and am selling all of these headbands for only $5 each.
Head on over to the shop and grab one before they are gone!

Random side note:

Anyone else missing Picnik as much as me?
Well...wipe your tears
because there is a new free photo editing website almost as cool as Picnik.
It's called Picmonkey (where I made the collage above) and it makes you look like a way better photographer than you really are.
You are welcome :)

cleaning with kids

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who struggles with this.
Because lately it has been way more than a struggle.
More like an epic battle.

Exhibit A

The carpet was just vacuumed and the clothes are clean.
That counts for something right?

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this on Facebook.

(Picture found here)

So true right?!

I'm sure one day my house will be clean and stay clean but for now I'm enjoying the craziness and messiness that accompany 3 little ones.
And at the same time I'm working on making it a little less messy and a little less crazy.
Any great suggestions or tips?

I just found this great cleaning schedule on pinterest.
I just have to do it :)

Just call me Fly Ninja

Fruit flies have invaded our house.
Pesky, gross fruit flies are e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e.
I'm not sure where they came from
but I sure am ready for them to pack up their stuff and leave.

Thanks to google I've been setting up fly traps all over the house.
Because if I can't kill them I can catch them.
Although I'm pretty much a master Fly killing Ninja by now.
Let's just say I've had lots of practice.

The other day Wesley ran into the room with the top of one of my fly traps in his mouth (thus letting out all the flies that I had just trapped).

I may have over reacted a bit when I told him that the piece of paper he was pretending to use as a horn was really the top of my fly trap.
And that all the flies from the trap had flown into his mouth.

I don't think he will be touching the fly traps again
(don't worry we told him that there were no flies in his mouth...eventually).

But he wasn't convinced they were really out of his mouth until Aaron pretended to get them out with a Q-tip.

Does it make us bad parents if we both thought this was really funny?

A peek at our past week

Happy Monday everyone!

Mondays are so much better when it's summer aren't they?
Here's a peek at our week (last week...I'm kind of behind) through the view of my camera phone.
Enjoy!

We went to a community group leader training at our church.
BTW...I love our church and our community group.
If you are local and you are looking for a church to go to you should check it out.

This past week Madelyn turned crazy!
Ok not really, but she is walking everywhere and starting to get mischievous.
Good thing she's still really really cute and sweet.

We played Candy Land with the kids.
Aaron won.

My girls....

loving on each other.
Baby laughs are the best thing ever.

The kids got some cool new shades
(Children's Place is having a huge sale with sunglasses for $1.99 if you are a sucker for a good deal like me)

He's still a mama's boy.

See.
 I told you...trouble!

My mom brought out my old doll house for Mackenzie to play with.
She was in heaven.

Anyone remember Playmobiles?

We went out to dinner with my Mom and Dad to celebrate Father's Day.
I have the coolest Dad ever.

Just a typical Saturday morning breakfast at the Sellars.

We went to a birthday party with some friends.

an Elmo birthday party to be exact.

How cute is this Elmo fruit tray?

Madelyn finally got her 2 top teeth in!

We spent Father's Day with Aaron's side of the family

and his Papa made his famous Carne Asada.
Mmmmm....

We helped some friends pack as they get ready to move
(we are going to miss you guys!!)

And just because she's so darn cute here is another picture of Madelyn with her favorite doll.

Hope you guys had a great Father's Day weekend and a happy Monday!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Fathers Day to the best

  hubby,

Daddy,

tickler, wrestler, cuddler, game playing, bedtime reading person I know.

Babe,
I'm so thankful that you are my husband and the father of our kids.
Thank you for loving us, leading us, providing for us, and teaching us about the Lord.
We love you so so much!

Light bulb scare

Need a little motivation to clean your kitchen (or any room in your house for that matter?)

Just read a super scary email informing you about the hazards of breaking an energy saving light bulb.
See really gross pictures in email about a man losing his foot because he stepped on a piece of the broken light bulb.
It literally ate through his foot people!

After reading that email I was really glad that none of ours have ever broke...

Until TODAY when one rolled out of the cupboard and broke into a million pieces.

Thankfully the kids weren't in the kitchen but I was in there barefoot
I totally had visions of my skin melting away but I carefully escaped any glass and got on my computer to google how to clean it up.

Here's the details in case you are ever in a similar situation.
  • Leave the room and ventilate for 15 minutes or more
  • While wearing rubber gloves, scoop up glass shards and debris from the bulb with a stiff piece of cardboard
  • Avoid creating or inhaling dust from the broken bulb
  • Don't use a vacuum or broom to clean up after a broken bulb on hard surfaces
  • Place the remains in a plastic bag
  • Wipe up the immediate area with a damp paper towel put it in the bag as well and seal it
  • If you need to use a vacuum on carpet, place the filter bag in a plastic bag as well
  • Wash your hands after finishing the clean up
  • Check with local authorities on procedures for disposal. Mercury is a hazardous household waste and can't be thrown out with ordinary household trash in some areas
The breaking of the light bulb did have one perk.
It forced me to clean (and I mean clean) my kitchen.
I went over every surface multiple times to make sure I got every last shard of glass.
I think I was ultra paranoid because Madelyn is walking and crawling and eating every weird thing around.

Have you guys heard of these light bulbs being so dangerous (when they break)?

hide the clippers

Just a recent conversation at the Sellars' house.

Me: Wes needs a haircut.
Aaron: Let's just buzz it.
Me: No.
Aaron: Wes, do you want to have hair like Daddy?
Wes: (pause) No...I don't think I want the black hair.

I will definitely be keeping his cute blond hair as long as I can.
And hiding the clippers. just in case.
