Happy Friday everyone!

Here's a peek at our past week (or 2)...enjoy!

The kids put on a puppet show for us

The tooth fairy came for a visit. again. 

(she has lost 3 teeth and she's not in kindergarten yet...someone tell me this is normal)

And we went to the fair.

It's always one of my favorite parts of the summer. 

I grew up going every year with my parents and not a whole lot has changed since then. 

Except now I'm going with my kids (which is crazy!). 

And they have more interesting food choices...half of which involve bacon. 

*I stole Wesley's hat about one minute after we got to the fair. It was HOT and I had a little baby heater attached to me most of the day.

The other day this little guy discovered his thumb

and the rest is history. 

The Sellars Express. 

This kid was meant to live on a farm.

I cannot tell you how much she loves our chickens.

She talks to them, pets them, tries to kiss them and cries when they run away from her.

 We spent some time being silly and trying to stay cool

My son likes to change clothes about 

one hundred times a day.

Most days my kids get to pick what they want to wear. 

Which means most days they have on some ummm....interesting outfits.

But when you have 4 little people you got to let some things go.

  

We do have some basic dressing criteria...

As long as it's

-modest (dresses or skirts have to have shorts or leggings under them)

-seasonally appropriate (even this I am pretty lenient on)

-clean(ish)

I'm usually fine with it. 

  

Wesley is by far my most creative dresser.

He loves to dress up and would wear a collared shirt and vest (or tie) every day if he could. 

He calls button down shirts his "work shirts" because Aaron wears one to work everyday. 

Some days when I tell him to get dressed he comes down in jammies. 

Or boardshorts.

Some days he wants to wear jeans and cowboy boots (even if it is 100 degrees out) or his sisters flip flops.

The other day he found one of Hudson's shirts in his closet (they share a closet) and tried to put it on.  

When we told him it was Hudson's he said, "I was wondering why it was so small."

He also tends to put things on backwards

and sometimes he goes the whole day without me noticing.

It is only 95 degrees out and those clothes are only 2 sizes too big. 

He also loves this superhero dress up clothes. 

And beanies.
And his slippers.

Preferably together. 

In the middle of a hot day.

Here he is cooling himself off in front of the fan...I have no idea why he is so hot :)

Oh Wesley...life would be so boring without you! 

Thanks for always keeping us on our toes and making us laugh. 

We love you silly boy!

Nature Scavenger Hunt

We are slowly checking off more items on our Summer Fun List. 

A couple days ago we went on a Nature Scavenger Hunt. 

I wrote "Find something Red....find something yellow, etc." on the paper and then colored each of the colors with a crayon since my kids can't read yet. 

We took a bag along with us and I filled it with lots of different flower petals, leaves, etc. for each of the colors on our paper. 

The kids had a great time exploring our neighborhood and searching for all the different colors!

It's so fun to see the same things we always see with new eyes. 

Then when we got home I drew a rainbow on a piece of paper using the proper color crayon for each strip of the rainbow. We had more colors than were really in the rainbow so we got creative with pink and black clouds and brown birds. 

Then I let the kids glue their scavenged goods to the proper spots on the rainbow.

I was surprised at how easily they were able to do it. 

I pretty much just monitored the glue usage and they did the rest. 

I love a good, easy and fun craft!

Is it really July?

Wow! What a weekend! 

We jammed as many fun things into the holiday weekend as we could. 

Because hello...How is it already July?!!

Summer is always too short...we've got to soak it up before it's gone.  

Here's a peek at what we were up to. 

We started the 4th off by swimming with some of our good friends. 

They have pretty much the coolest pool ever.

Then we came home and had a block party.
It was so fun getting to hang out with the neighbors we already know and to meet so many new ones. 

Oh and we confirmed the fact that half of my kids reeeeallly don't like fireworks.

I'm pretty sure that's how the new neighbors we met will remember us...

"You know, the people with all the kids. The ones who were freaking out over the fireworks." 

Yep, that was us. 

The following day we woke up bright and early and headed off to Santa Barbara for a little road trip. 

What a fun city to explore!

We met some of our good friends up there too. 

It's always more fun to travel and explore new places with friends. 

We also stopped by a cute little Dutch town called Solvang to explore and eat pastries. 

Well mainly to eat pastries.  

On Saturday a few friends and I cashed in our Mother's Day presents and had a spa day at Burke Williams.

Our sweet husbands not only spoiled us with a day at the spa but watched all of the kiddos all morning and afternoon while we had some much needed relaxing girl time. 

What a blessing! 

And on Sunday we had another pool party with some of our best friends. 

I'm so lucky to have such amazing ladies in my life (and that cute photobomber too).

Canning

Remember my dream of owning a farm?

You know somewhere I can have a huge garden, my chickens and some room for my 4 crazy kids to be kids.

Well...on my farm there will also be tons of fruit trees. And berry bushes/vines. 

While we are at it throw in a river. And a pond to go fishing. 

And since I will have soooo much fruit I won't know what to do with it all 

I will give some away, eat a ton (remember I have 4 little fruit monsters) and I will can the rest.

So in preparation for my homesteading days my friends parents let us borrow her fruit trees to get our can on. It's always a ton of work but totally worth it to have a years worth of delicious canned fruit at your fingertips. 

All of which will be used for this and this alone. 

Mmmmmmmmm....

A couple years ago we canned apricots but this year we came out for the peaches and green gage plums. 

When you are planning a day of canning you need to start by enlisting some (preferably free) laborers to pick your fruit. 

Luckily we had lots of willing helpers.

This one preferred to be the official taste tester.

I don't blame her.

We also canned these greengage plums.
They are also delicious! 

Here we are hard at work. 

And while we worked our hubby's and the kids got to play.
