New Year's Resolutions

I never have really been into New Year's Resolutions,
until last year.
A couple weeks before the beginning of 2010 I listened to a Francis Chan message (I wish I could remember which one it was) which really challenged me to make 2010 a different year.
A year of intentionality.
A year of discipline.
A year of seeking the Lord and choosing to live for Him no matter what the cost was.

And last year was different.
It was scary and uncomfortable as God challenged our family to leave the safety and security of Orange County to go somewhere foreign.
I was challenged to put my faith into practice. Saying you believe the gospel and actually choosing to live it out daily are two very different things.
It was full of answered prayers and God's provision.
And it was a year of growth in my knowledge and love for the Lord like never before.
One thing I committed to do at the beginning of 2010 was to read through the Bible in a year.
And by God's grace I did!
And seriously...it was the best food and nourishment for my soul. After tasting it's goodness daily I can honestly say that I never want to spend another year without reading through the Bible.
I'm pretty positive that was a huge reason my 2010 year looked the way that it did.

After last year's success I made a few New Year's Resolutions of 2011.

Here they are:

-Read through the Bible in a year {again}

-Make a prayer journal and spend time daily with Jesus in intentional prayer. Record prayer requests and answered prayers.

-Help the kids to memorize one Bible verse a week. Go over the verses at mealtimes.

-Read the Bible in the morning during breakfast with the kids

-Have someone over for dinner once a week

-Stick to our new, all cash money system

What are some of your New Year's Resolutions?

*I just read through Jonathan Edwards Resolutions. It is amazing. Jonathan Edwards put together a list of lifetime resolutions and committed to read through them once a week. I think it would be good for my soul to do the same (and then put the things into practice of course).

I love all your "resolutions" but my fave is "have someone over for dinner once a week".
That is similar to one of my goals but mine is once per month -- with 4 children and my hubby owning a business once a week might drive me bonkers LOL!

Mine this year is to read through the Bible and blog about it weekly on my blog.
