Flower Pot Pincushion Tutorial

This pincushion is SUPER easy and fast to make. I think it took me 15 minutes total. Just the kind of project I like...instant gratification :)

Supplies:

-Fabric of your choice
-Mini Flower Pot
-Scissors or Rotary Cutter
-Rubber band
-8x8 template (or something similar in size)
-Glue gun
-Fiberfill/Stuffing Stuff
-Ribbon and Button for embellishment

Step 1: Cut your fabric to an 8x8 square. I had an 8x8 template so I just laid it over my fabric and cut around it with my rotary cutter. If you don't have a template just approximate...it doesn't need to be perfect.
*A little larger or smaller square or circle would probably work fine as well.

Step 2: Lay out your piece of fabric (good side down) and place a large bunch of stuffing in the middle.

Step 3: Gather each corner of the fabric to the middle and hold with your fingers (the ball of stuffing should be inside)

Step 4: Continue gathering the fabric together until you have formed a ball shape. I also kept having to add more stuffing to make it full and rounded. Wrap a rubber band around the top to secure.

It should now look something like this.

Step 4: Break out the glue gun and put a generous line of glue around the inner lip of the flower pot. Then stick your stuffed ball of fabric inside the flower pot and press down so it adheres to the hot glue. (It is important to work fast so the glue is hot when you put the ball inside). You will want the rubber band and excess fabric to be inside the flower pot so they are hidden.

(Sorry the picture is so bad...I was having major flash issues with my camera)

Step 5: Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to wrap around the top part of the flower pot then hot glue in place.

Step 6: Pick out a matching button and hot glue the button to cover the ends of the ribbon you just glued on.

Yeah your done! Just add your sewing pins and admire your work :)
Wouldn't these would make such a cute gift for someone who sews? I think so!

That is SO cute! I'm going to have to make one of those for myself. :)
